Gollinkambi Kindred

The Jotuns are of the kin of giants, although the term "giant" is not meant to imply only great size or stength.  Rather, the Jotuns range in power and size, as do other wights.  The greatest of the Jotuns would bo Gods, except that they are not aligned with the kin of the Aesir and Vanir for the protection and wel being of man.  There is not a clear mythological distinction between Etins, Thurses, Trolls and Giants.  Like all other wights, these beings, collectively “Giant-kind”  seem to exist on a continuum of power, intellect, physicality and transcendence.  In general, Etins are associated with wild forces of nature which are not opposed to the Gods and man, but are often neutral and sometimes helpful.  Many, perhaps most, of the jotuns and their kind are simply aloof, indifferent to the happenings those outside their own interests.  Indeed, the Gods themselves are related to the Jotuns and several of the Aesinyur, the Goddesses, were considered Jotuns until they married into the families of the Gods. 

Thurs - Thurs is a term for one of giant kind that is hostile to mankind and the order of the cosmos

Etin - Another name for a Jotun, which carries no other significant connotation

Troll - One of the Jotun kin that is local to an area or place and although strong generally slow witted.  Frequently trolls are hostile to mankind and tend toward chaos, however, some are merely disintersted
