The Duergar are often refered to as the dwarves in the Lore, however, like the term "giants" used for the Jotun they should not be viewed as small of stature. Distinct from other wights, the duergar are independant, beholdedn to no other wights and skilled in craft above all others. Many of the great treasures of the Gods were created by the duergar, including Mjolnir, Brisingamen, Skidbladnir, Sif's Hair and Gungnir. The only fetter which could hold Fenrir, Gleipnir, was fashioned by the duergar when the Gods failed to create any bond strong enough.
Although the Duergar may be occasionally thanked or asked for assistance by an individual, it is rare for the dwellers of Midgard to have interaction with these wights.
