Gollinkambi Kindred

Alfheim is the realm of the Alfar, or more particularly, the ljosalfar as the svartalfar appear to inhabit the world of svartalfheim.  This world is described as being given to Freyr as a “tooth-gift.”  Interestingly, this implies that the Gods have a childhood and a development of some sort, which should not be surprising as it is well known that the Gods also are born and die.  Of this world very little is recorded.  The inhabitants seem to interact with the dwellers of Midgard with some frequency, and appear have substantial qualities that are similar to those of mortal men.  To suggest, then, that Alfheim is more similar to Midgard than, say, Vanaheim is pure speculation, but tantalizing, none the less.  Also purely speculative, and tantalizing, would be the suggestion that the Vanir are the Gods that take the greatest interest in Alfheim as the Aesir are the Gods that take the greatest interest in Midgard.
