Everything, all of our beliefs, our Gods, the Spirits around us, our ancestors and ourselves, everything is caught up in a web, which we call the Web of Wyrd.  Wyrd, pronounced "weird,"  is often mistranslated as "fate" but this is only because modern English has no word term to appropriately express the full meaning of Wyrd. 

Wyrd encompasses "fate" in the sense of the interconnectedness of things which have happened influencing things which will happen.  Every action leads to further actions and consequences which spread far beyond the time and location of that particular action.  This entangled tapestry of causes, effects and causes is Wyrd.  Each individual strand within the Web of Wyrd is Orlog.  Orlog is immutable, but still does not express an idea of fate without free will.  Rather, Orlog is the limits which bound free action.  Some times these limits are greater than others. 

Our lives are interconnected with one another, between those who are living, those who have lived, the spirits great and small, and the Gods.  It is because of this tangled existence that we place such an emphasis on reciprocal relationships, worthy actions, and the giving and receiving of gifts.

Many in our lives and our world take small notice of us, if they notice us at all.  Some are inimical to us and some we count as friends and family.

We use the term "wight" to refer to a thing with life and awareness, spiritual or mundane.
